poetry and the art of recklessness

"how sad it is when a luxurious imagination is obliged in self-defence to deaden its delicacy in vulgarity, and riot in things attainable that it may not have leisure to go mad
after things that are not." *john keats, july 1818
let us riot in the unattainable!
poetry is when the animal bursts forth, inflamed.

and...that's okay

...and i wish i were in new york. and window shopping with
mid-western mittens on south american skin. and my cheeks
have never been rudy with frostbite at age 5...but hers are.
and so outside the sephora mega makeup franchise i see reflected
my bundled up self living the white life and that's okay i think
that's a-okay so i begin to disrobe my hands...you know,
remember what ice feels like. remember that we have drops of the
same flag in our blood and although my mother never swung steady
a machete...she has sewn my clothes. she has prayed at my bedside.
she had paid for my oil changes. she has taught me of travel...
of a vast backyard.
of the responsibility that a passport stamps.
and that home is everywhere you choose to blossom.
she has given me a life never lived by her,
for me,
if i am so bold as to truly live it full.
...and christmas in new york with tv news stations and
draft beer specials are oddly cozy attributes to the city's jingle bustle.
the cathedrals emanate a more solitary tone of commercialized religion
and only few who enter now know how to operate the holy water.
let us pray. because, that's okay.

for fun-zies

just for fun-zies, here are some random old poems.
no need to respond if they don't make sense.
that's the point of fun-zies...for fun-zies!

fruitless Cali sand,
silent under snow
and that water must
be fucking cold...
i moon walk on the
untouched ice dunes and
even inflate my belly so as
to honor the extra room
in my moon suit.

i make a sexy astronaut...

but i think i'd miss
the sun,
and the sand-
you can't construct moon dust castles-

i mean, that's just fucking ridiculous.
*february 2007

roasted cauliflower soup gently poured over chipped chunks of gorgonzola
newly wedded to the hand-massaged baby spinach and arugula dish,
dressed with rosemary-honey and plucked pomegranate --
seeds from the first newborn sunflower that christ held between his teeth on the first sunrise of the first celebration of what we now call easter and i can't wait any longer to see you choke to your environmentally sound death despite the logic that you, too, breathe an animals' breath.
panting heavy heated from your spine as the moon licks your sacrum
you ate this earth growling. . .
remember. . . ?
primal, ripping roots, and dripping fruits, and food fighting with
brothers and sisters of the same pack.
so, became this fleshy earths' first carnivore who bit and cackled down the blood?

so, who is the wolf. . . ?

not that it matters. . .
with chops like that.
*february 2007
*i used to be a hostess at the Fiddlehead Cafe.
the menu is...specific.
the clientele is...specific, as well.

tangerine and crushed freesia, this city reeks of women and their oils.
let your hair down, girl! shake out the pony kinks
and loft that Pantene Pro-V to the east,
to the water,
to the maintainence men and coffee house hustlers.
the ladies sure do spritz heavily in the heavenly AM yawns,
too sleepy too hungover from mojito mints and second city sours
with lemony twists and happy hours
purchased by the bosses of bosses and the ass in the office who can only be civil when he's downed two double shots of jagermeister,
all that deer blood to settle his trigger before speaking kindly to his fellow dollar earners.
he hits on the chicky-dee, the fresh one, who got hired 3 weeks ago, who is the friend of the office fatty who brings in doughnuts about twice a month, even though she knows
everyone is on a fucking diet.
but the gesture is nice.
*don't have it recorded what year

namaste, m*tha f*ckas. now, go write a poem.

soon reporting from spain

i will be writing from spain come december 30th!

from granada! from ortura to be exact.
then from france! from paris to be exact.
from the computer nook of the parisian apartment
my peruvian cousin rents out!

just thought you should know where in the world i will be,
and what kind of world i will be viewing! i visited spain in 2007,
and i look forward to igniting the new year!
because, i don't think it was just me that thinks 2009 really sucked.

namaste, m*tha f*cka.

i want...please

"words are like money; there is nothing so useless, unless when in actual use."
*samuel butler, writer 1835-1902

i want.
i want to be employed by you. i want you to give me a job.
i want to write for you, to help you create, to give you a fresh vision,
to collaborate with you. i want this blog of heaping handfuls of my writings to be
a taste of what i can provide for you.
publish me. help edit my crap. help weed out the snarls.
employ me, damnit.
send me to where anthony bourdain gets shipped off to. yes. i want that.
i do want that. a lot. i want to travel. on your dime, if that's alright.
i want my words to be in actual use. somehow. somef*ckingway.
i want something to come of this, and i hope you can help me.
if not...

then, namaste, m*tha f*cka.
and enjoy!

swing your golden pick

"...this world is a treacherous place
and will surely slay and drown the lazy...

the only life raft here is love...

don't die again
with that holy ruby mine inside
still unclaimed

when you could be swinging
a golden pick with
each
step."
*portion of DON'T DIE AGAIN from THE GIFT, POEMS BY HAFIZ The Great Sufi Master

namaste, m*tha f*ckas.
i bow to you. the light within me honors the light within you.
i welcome you in!
this open space is to defy the deconstruction of communication...
to create permanence and integrity in my linguistic construction...these are my words...
and most are not in their sunday clothes.

i recgonize the irony, the poetic complex interpretation of namaste, m*tha f*cka...
and i am lovin' it!

urban zen in the fitting rooms, where western men fall short of western genius.
sifting for culture through merchandice
and i wonder if i could do a sun salutation in these jeans?
this urban gateway to the icons of eastern culltures
where throw pillows spark meditative OMMM
and floating lamps in my 2nd floor studio that rival the set of Karate Kid: Part whatever
the one when he's in mr. miyagis' home-home-town and his girl is the chicky
who digs him enough to do the sacred tea cup sharing tradition.

i bow to you, m*tha f*cka.
with humility. with respect.
with the knowledge that the light within us can sometimes be
just a bad haircut on the day we decide to die.

namaste.
